Located in the south of Thailand, just north of Phuket you will come across the province of Khao Lak.
Khao Lak, translated from Thai literally means jungle, which gives you a great idea as to what to expect from the area.
Khao Lak is the perfect location to take a golf holiday with 3 quality golf courses in the region to enjoy.
The first and without doubt, the best of the three is the Katathong Spa and Golf Resort.
Set between three mountains, Khao Tao, the tallest of the three, Khao Nang Hong and Phag Nga the course is positioned in a prime area of the region, offering stunning views.
Katathong Golf Course is built upon the remains of a centuries old tin mine, with records suggesting that the tin mine was in operation a far back as the 15th century. Owner Somkiat Ratanarungsiwat has ensured that his families heritage has been preserved with the design of the course.
The course is spectacular with narrow fairways, well positioned white sand bunkers and a natural reservoir providing a stern test, but the beauty and tranquillity of the course comes from the many natural waterways and waterfalls that provide a wonderful background sound.
An exciting and interesting Par 3 course completes the golf offering.
The second of the courses is the Tublamu Navy Golf Course.
Originally a 9-hole course, owned by the Thai Navy, Tublamu was only opened to the public in the early 2000´s with the extension of the course to 18 holes.
Set along the Andaman Sea the course is links in style with sea-breezes often hampering play.
The course is well laid out and challenging enough for any level of golfer.
Unlike the many resort courses, Tublamu is not as well maintained, don´t get me wrong it is more than playable and the location is superb.
Finally, Kirinara Golf Course, a 9-hole layout that offers yet more stunning views.
Meaning river and mountain the name Kirinara is aptly named.
A mountain stream runs through the course and creates a peaceful setting.
Kirinara is an interesting challenge, with the course being built to mirror the naturally beautiful area.
The 9 holes are all individually created with varying levels of length and difficulty.
Golfers of all levels will relish the challenge the undulating terrain creates, with many of the holes sloping heavily to create some very difficult lies for the approach shots into the mid-sized greens.
Maintained to the highest standards the course is definitely worth a visit.
Phang Nga has many cultural and leisure activities for you to enjoy, so mixing a golf holiday with some fun and relaxation is easy in this area.
