Are you looking to explore a new golf destination? Then you should consider Bandung in the West Java province of Indonesia which has several great golf courses.
The location of the large, university city is incredible, at an elevation of 768 metres above sea level the area enjoys a wonderfully cool, tropical climate that tourists and locals can enjoy throughout the year.
A real pleasure for the visiting golfer is the openness and amazing views that the city enjoys, with the mountainous, volcanic scenery beyond is a real delight.
Known by many as the “Paris” of Indonesia, Bandung is an educational hub, considered to have one of the most vibrant and modern universities in Indonesia. The epi-centre of fashion Bandung merges cosmopolitan trends with the tradition and culture you would expect from any Indonesian city.
Being so vibrant and lively, the city is quickly becoming a great tourist venue, the wonderful night market and the wonderful street food stalls really offer a great insight into the culture and cuisines of the region. If you are looking for a range of activities then golf is certainly one of the up and coming regions for golf tourism, something the Indonesian tourist board are actively encouraging.
Currently there are 5 golf courses in the Bandung region, each with their own character and superb facilities to enhance the experience.
As with many of the Indonesian golf courses the attention to detail is exemplary, and customer service is at the forefront.
Of the courses the most notable are Bandung Giri Gahana Golf Resort which is arguably the most prestigious of the three. A large resort with hotel accommodation and spa services create a luxury resort that caters for both golfers and non-golfers alike.
The Mountain View Golf Club is set within the urbanisation and close to local hotels. The views and the design of this course really make it stand out, a memorable experience.
Finally, the Diego Heritage 1917, is one of Indonesia´s oldest courses and for the golf purist it is a must visit. Blending the course design perfectly with the natural surroundings the course is a delight to play.
The temperate, tropical climate lends itself to year-round golf which is another massive draw for golfers to visit the area and although the wet season runs from around October through to May the rainfall is not that significant and is characterised by heavy downpours that rarely last for extended periods.
