Golf in Koh Samui

Koh Samui golf courses

When it comes to golf Koh Samui has a fairly limited selection, but what it lacks in quantity, it more than makes up for in quality, with quite simply stunning views over the surrounding area from the hills in the centre of the island.  You can see here our 10 Reasons why Thailand is a great place to play golf.

Santiburi Samui Country Club

The first golf course on the island was the Santiburi Samui Country Club, and provides a challenge to even the most experienced of golfers. Hosting the 2006 Bangkok Airways Open, this course is championship standard and offers winding fairways and steep uphill sections with views over the ocean and the beach. Adding to the attraction is a number of pretty little creeks and waterfalls that meander around the greens.

With a restaurant and a well-stocked golf shop Samui golfers can relax and enjoy themselves at Santiburi Country Club.

Rajjaprabha Dam Golf Course
Another one of the most spectacular golf courses about two hours from Samui is Rajjaprabha Dam Golf Course. This golf course in Samui is surrounded by plush green forest and it sits amid dense plantation which makes up most of the scenic views that the golf course has to offer. It is one of the most beautiful golf courses that you are to come across in Thailand and it is located near the Khao Sok National Park.

Golf in Samui is starting to rocket in popularity and there’s now a number of other courses on the island such as the Royal Samui Golf and Country Club, Bophut Hills and a couple of driving ranges.

Cheap green fees in Samui can easily be found as many of these courses are not yet as well-known as their mainland equivalents. Golf lessons in Samui can also be found for good value on the island; what better way to learn how to play than looking out at the ocean and onto coconut palm fringed beaches?

If you are not sure when is the best time to visit to get the best weather then you can get more information here.

Santiburi Samui Golf Club is the only 18-hole golf course on the island of Koh Samui which meanders its way through the jungle and hillsides above the beautiful beaches.  It’s a very tough course – particularly the back nine and you will need to be on top of your game and also enjoy a slice of luck to score well.   Its one of the courses that made it onto our list of Best Golf Courses in Thailand.
