Golf holidays in Dalat

Vietnam is one of the up and coming destinations in the world for golfers.  There are many great regions in which to book a golf holiday, one of the best being Dalat.

Located almost 5,000 feet about sea level on the Langbian Plateau, Dalat is situated on the man-made Xuan Huong Lake, which is five square kilometres in size and is found in the centre of the city. 

Due to its elevation, Dalat provides a change of atmosphere, especially in the summer months.  The region offers a wide variety of flowers, vegetables and fruit from the surrounding farms plus the forests and traditional local villages are great places to visit.

Travelling to Dalat for a golf holiday involves either a flight to Lien Khuong Airport or a bus journey.  The former is the most convenient and will allow you more time to enjoy your golf package rather than wasting hours on a bus.  Lien Khuong Airport is 30 kilometres from the city and you can get flights from Ho Chi Minh City, Hanoi, Hue, Vinh, Haiphong and Bangkok.

There is a wide choice of accommodation in Dalat and most of them can be found in the city centre, surrounding the lake.  There are many modern hotels to choose from, with mid-range prices and thanks to the transport links and selection of restaurants, the central area of Dalat proves a popular place to stay for those on a golf holiday.

Located just 5 kilometres away from the city centre is Tuyen Lam Lake.  This lake is a great place to stay if you are looking to indulge in water-sports, fishing, kayaking and hiking as part of your Dalat golf package.  Accommodation includes lake-side resorts and these make for a peaceful retreat in comparison to the city centre.  Swiss-BelResort Tuyen Lam Dalat is a good choice as it is situated next to a golf course.

Weather and Best Time to Travel

The sub-tropical highland climate means the weather in Dalat is mostly mild throughout the year.  Dalat has been christened as the “City of eternal spring” thanks to the contrast in the weather with the southern regions of Vietnam.

Even in May and June, which are the hottest months of the year in Dalat, you will not see temperatures average over 20 degrees.  The highest temperature ever recorded in Dalat was 31.5 degrees.

Therefore, it is possible to enjoy a pleasant round of golf at any time of year in Dalat but if you want to have the best chance of dry conditions, the months between November and March are the best.  Just remember to bring a jumper and coat for the evenings.
