Bonnie Doon Golf Club is one of Australia's most famous golf clubs began with the assembly of 'golf crazy cranks' at the home of Marrickville Doctor Charles Adam Patrick in 1897. Now, more than a century later, it's a club with a host of traditions, the third-oldest in Sydney, and rare in that it's been in three different locations.
The layout at Bonnie Doon tries to mimic the work of nature, with a mixture of irregular undulations, wispy roughnesses and rugged bunker lips that seem to have been created from years of wind and rain. There is an abundance of undulating sandy soil and some wonderful vegetation. Both aspects stimulate the feeling of playing a very natural golf course.
