Located around an hour from the Chitose International Airport you will find the Makomanai Golf and Country Club.
Beautifully appointed the clubhouse is delightful and luxurious with everything the discerning golfer could want.
The Morning Lounge is the ideal start to your golf day, with the chance to enjoy a coffee and snack before you head to the course. A large, welcoming lobby is staffed by the most pleasant of personnel and the pro-shop is extremely well-stocked with the most recognised brands of equipment and clothing.
A sauna and a trio of alternative temperature baths, spacious locker and shower rooms are also available for use by the members or guests.
Practice facilities are superb, a large putting green plus a further two putting greens beside the starting tees of each course will soon available. A pitching and bunker area are also available for those wishing to get their eye in before a round, or those looking to develop their short games. A large double-tiered driving range completes the wonderful off-course facilities.
Makomanai Golf and Country Club boasts two beautifully designed courses, The Algae and The Kuranuma Courses.
Both parkland layouts the courses are open to all and offer a great chance to enjoy the natural beauty of Japan.
The Kuranuma course measures 6874-yards from the back tees, and like the Algae course has a choice of 4 tee blocks, choose your tee according to your handicap level and you will have a very enjoyable round.
Trees line all the holes, creating an environment most pleasurable. The fairways are in general wide and inviting.
The greens are all well protected, by numerous bunkers that frame the generally small greens.
It is not a difficult track by any means, water only comes into play on a couple of holes, making this ideal for beginners.
The Algae course is a little shorter at 6684-yards but is probably the more demanding of the two layouts.
Water much like the Kuranuma course, is rare, although it does come into play at the 212-yard par 3 thrd hole. The hole requires a carry over the pond which sits short of the green, tress again frame the hole.
The eighth hole is interesting with the course having the option of utilizing a second green to change the complexity of the par five, which can be attacked by longer hitters.
Another hole that can be attacked is the short par four ninth, at just 304-yards from the back tee it is a definite chance to finish the loop with a birdie.
Bunkers are well positioned around the greens to add to the difficulty of the approach shots.
Mature and well maintained both courses are enjoyable to play and offer a sufficient challenge to keep all levels of golfer entertained.
Well worth a visit if you are in the area.
