You are spoilt for choice when it comes to quality golf courses in Oman and Ghala Golf Club is one of the best in the country. The golf course was originally designed by renowned British golfer, Bill Longmuir but has since been updated. Dellanzo Group in collaboration with landscape designer Beatrice Franceschi have worked hard to redesign the course and the results are absolutely fantastic.
Ghala Golf Club is located in the Oman capital, Muscat, so if you are planning on staying in the city, you can travel from your hotel to this golf course in a matter of minutes. In terms of the design, this 18 hole golf course is magnificent and the holes are framed by the iconic Al-Hajar mountains. Some of the fairways themselves actually lead into the mountain landscape and you find yourself playing in amongst the hillsides.
The par-72 course plays to 6527 yards off the men’s tees and 5430 yards off the ladies tees. Although some of the fairways are narrow, the recent redesign has added some width to the holes. However, with an abundance of bunkers and trees throughout the course, Ghala Golf Club provides a good test, even to experienced players. Keep an eye out for the wildlife around the golf course, including the resident herons, who can often be found in the pond on the 18th hole.
In addition to the excellent golf course, you will find a grassed driving range and putting green. They provide the perfect way to practice and get to grips with the green speed before commencing a round. The clubhouse is home to lovely views of the 9th, 15th and 18th holes, the Laval Restaurant, a fully-staffed pro shop, and outdoor seating area.
Ghala Golf Club has all the ingredients to produce a memorable day of golf in Oman.
