The Alpine Golf Club is one of the best golf courses in Chiang Mai and is set in a beautiful valley with great views of the surrounding mountains. The course is in great condition and is very challenging from the back tees.

Designed by world-renowned designer, Ron Garl, he immediately gives you get a taste of what to expect from the opening hole and as you make your way round this very scenic golf course you will need to negotiate the undulating fairways, numerous water hazards and cleverly-placed bunkers in order to score well.

The par 5, 4th is the longest hole on the golf course and is also one of the longest holes in Thailand with trees on the right and out of bounds on the left off the tee and n even larger bunker blocking your second shot.  If you can carry the bunker you have a reasonably easy approach shot to the green but watch out for the creek which is lurking beyond the green.

The 7th is another long par 5 and a quick “Wai” to the spirit house beside the tee might help you to negotiate the stream that runs all the way from tee to green and which you have to negotiate twice.  This is a hole where anything from an eagle to a triple bogey is possible depending on how brave or unlucky you are.

The 12th is an extremely picturesque par 3 with the mountains framing the green which is also guarded by two deep bunkers.

The 15th is one of the signature holes and which is a very intimidating another par 3 as you play to a green totally surrounded by water.  This tee shot is enough to intimidate most people but the green as larger than it looks from the tee boxes.

The superb, modern clubhouse has immaculate locker rooms, a well-stocked pro-shop and dining options include the Resort Restaurant, the Club House Restaurant or you can relax and enjoy a drink at the poolside bar.

Course C is totally neglected immediately beyond the fairways

Reviewed by ; on
See above, rough swallows balls and drainage too bad that a ball disappears in the middle of the fairways as the ball plugs in beyond vision

Good golf course, bad service.

Course is not that difficult and maintained at a decent level. Caddy was a complete novice, did not speak a word of English, did not know the course nor try to learn player’s yardage, was very slow, and ultimately lost a few of my head covers. Manager said she would compensate for loss but, overall will not be retuning to Alpine.

The old Chiangmai Lumpoon course. Only gripe would be condition of tee boxes but was told it was under repairs.

5 hour plus round of golf

Reviewed by ; on
Course is in fairly poor condition with greens looking very bare and fairways with excessive divots and not much sign of maintenance. However the main issue is pace of play. This is my third time playing Alpine, last time we walked off after the 9th on Course A. It had taken 30 minutes to play just that hole and over three hours to play the 9. The marshalls refused to do anything about it on that occasion. On this occasion no marshalls present at all. Even getting through 2 groups we still took over 5 hours. Absolutely painful experience. Apparently the start times are wvery 8 minutes including 5 balls so it is never going to work. My last time on this course, just not a pleasant experience at all.
