The Nicklaus Course at BRG Danang provides a strong test of your golf offers a different experience from the original Norman Course, which was built on top of sand dunes beside the ocean. This course has been built in the middle of a natural flood plain and many of the holes are almost totally surrounded by the natural wetlands or run alongside the Coco River and you can get lovely views of the local villages with the city of Danang as a backdrop.

The numerous lakes and creeks bisect the course and some of the fairways and greens are only protected from flooding by the retaining walls which surround them.

Despite the proximity of the water they have made the fairways quite wide and most people should find the generous landing areas.  Depending on which of the six tee boxes you choose, there are some long water carries which higher handicappers might find daunting.  The longer hitters will get plenty of chance to take risks in order to reach the par 5’s in two.

All holes in the BRG Danang Golf Resort, Nicklaus Course have been floodlit so you can get in 18 holes starting late afternoon or early evening.  The floodlights have bene cleverly disguised behind the many palm trees.

The large clubhouse, pro shop and driving range are shared by both Norman and Nicklaus courses.

Fun night golf outing

We played the Nicklaus design and the course is well designed but gets a bit boring to be honest as almost all the holes are designed in a similar fashion. The greens were in very poor condition and needs some serious maintenance. It could be because of the recent rains. The club house is nice as are the locker rooms and the restaurant. The caddies were wonderful and knew their yardages and putting lines very well so that was impressive. I wouldn't play the course again though as having played the Norman course before, it is much better than this one.

Disappointed

Reviewed by ; on
A big mix up with our course booking. We had originally booked to play the Norman course but having been told how bad the greens were we asked Golfsavers to change us to the Nicklaus course. We were issued a new voucher for the Nicklaus. We were issued scorecards for Nicklaus on registration then were rushed onto the course. After 3 holes we realised we were playing the Norman course! The greens were in very bad condition like we had been told. The marshal was called and we were taken to the Nicklaus course as booked. This course was in better condition, fairways good and though the greens were sandy and damaged in places. The greens did play well. When we started the 16th hole a lady from the office came out in a cart to tell us we had to stop as we had played 18 holes. If we wanted to finish the last 3 holes we would have to pay extra money! We were not happy with this . The course had made the mistake of starting us on the wrong course!!!!! We had paid to play the Nicklaus course and not allowed to finish it. This spoiled our day of golf,

Course is fantastic, everything is so-so

Really loved the course, although it was tough. The greens were a bit slow and I found really inconsistent (we played Montgomerie a few hours before BRG and my putting was vastly worse) but that may just be me making excuses for my bad putting :) Aside from the golf itself the staff and caddies were pretty lack luster at best. It really took away from the round. It started immediately when we excited the car where we had a very rude and pushy caddie leader scolding us for brining our own water and beer, which were were genuinely ignorant that we weren't supposed to. They then tracked us down to the first hole and made us pay ~$30 corkage fee for bringing our own drinks. Its kind of silly when you're paying quite a premium to play there. The other smaller things but that ultimately layered on top of that poor experience was 1.) The checkin was confusing and the women working there seemed more interested in chatting between themselves than explaining anything to us (we had no idea what to do or where to go after they checked us in) 2.) the restaurant took forever to make our food, i.e. 30 minutes for a sandwich and salad 3.) the caddies were really bad at reading the greens, and seems totally uninterested in doing anything to help us, it really felt like we were imposing on their day the whole round, which just weighs on you during an already mentally taxing game. Anyways, I'm not sure I'll be back to the course, I'd definitely go back to Montgomerie or try Hoiana Shores instead.

Fairways and greens are well maintained. Very enjoyable for social golfers playing from the white tee.

There are lots of water and sand bunkers to punish wild shots. The greens are very slow. Buggies are allowed on the fairway which can speed up play.
