Located a 3-hour drive from Hanoi, and around 20 minutes from Halong Bay you Will find the spectacular resort FLC Halong Bay.
An incredible resort that caters for your every need as a golfer and tourist.
Set overlooking a UNESCO World Heritage Site, you are afforded some of the most impressive views anywhere in the area.
Opened in August 2017 the par-71, 18-hole course is set to turn heads, as have any of the Schmidt-Curley designs across Asia.
The Schmidt-Curley design, is unlike many modern courses short at just 6800 yards from the back tees, but this was never meant to be a long slog. Instead the design was to centre around the incredible views and playability for the visiting golfers to the ultra-modern resort centrepiece.
Schmidt-Curley have hit the design brief on the nose, with incredible attention to the surrounding vistas to create some truly remarkable holes, that will live long in the memory. Their use of the natural landscape to create a varied selection of holes is testament to their reputation.
A huge amount of land moving was needed to craft the course at Halong Bay, and it was a mammoth task.
For some, the dis-jointed nature of the course may create a “dislike” for the layout, but it is hard to not enjoy this course as the natural beauty outweighs any negative.
It is the par 3s that really stand out here, and there are five of them.
Each with their own incredible views out over the Halong Bay and the limestone karsts, which are quite simply one of the most mind-blowing and breath-taking sights anywhere on the planet.
The 8th and 12th are two of the par threes and they both bear an uncanny resemblance to the iconic 7th hole at Pebble Beach, not just one chance to play a hole that can drive fear into the very best golfers, but two!!
In general, the course has large wide fairways, that give the course a resort feel, but that was the intention to create a course where tourists would find balls with ease, whilst still presenting a challenge to keep the more seasoned golfer interested.
The greens, being new, are superb and the bunkering is a clever addition to the already aesthetically pleasing holes.
The enormous club house provides great food, luxury locker rooms and a large pro shop.
Practice facilities are equally impressive with a great driving range, short game practice area and putting greens.
A new resort, with a lot going for it. Halong Bay is a must visit resort in Vietnam
