The Els Club Desaru Coast in Malaysia has set its stall out to become not only one of the most exclusive golf resorts in Asia, but the world.
Already boasting an exceptional 27-hole Ocean Course layout, The Els Club recently opened their second 18 hole course The Valley.
Designed again by Ernie Els, and in collaboration with his long-time friend and major winner Vijay Singh the pair have created what can only be described as a work of art.
The Valley Course differs from The Ocean Courses 3 loops of nine with a distinctive and artistic design that is sure to have golfers in awe.
At 7,200 yards The Valley Course is a design masterpiece and sits adjacent to the esteemed Ocean Course.
The Valley Course was designed to be different, and it most certainly is. Built on heavily undulating land the holes enjoy various elevation changes, which together with the ingenious bunkering create some truly breath-takingly visual holes.
It is in the bunkering and clever use of creeks, streams and water hazards that really set this course apart from other in Malaysia.
Singh´s primary thought when designing the course was to ensure that golfers had to think and strategically manage their way around the course, keeping them thinking was a way to ensure that the course would be visually inspiring, whilst remaining a championship golf course.
Though The Ocean Course is more likely to gain the plaudits as being the better of the two courses, The Valley is certainly not a push-over and you should look to book a tee-time here.
As with all of Els´s designs, although Singh deserves a lot of credit as well, The Valley course will be an awarding winning course that people just absolutely love to play.
Coupled with the amazing on-course and resort facilities at The Els Club, this is a golf holiday destination that will not disappoint.
