Permas Jaya Golf Club is located just 10 minutes away from the centre of Johor Bahru, making it a very convenient golfing destination in Malaysia. It is also within driving distance of Singapore, so reaching Permas Jaya Golf Club is very straight forward. Within the vicinity, there are a number of shopping malls, with all the popular stores and supermarkets available and there are plenty of hotels, from luxury to budget on offer. This may be important for some because there are no facilities to stay overnight at the golf club, so it’s good to know there are plenty of options in the area.
Permas Jaya Golf Club is a nine hole, par-36 golf course, playing to a total yardage of 3,125 on the blue tees, 2,910 on the white tees and 2,655 on the red tees. It was designed by Desoro Sdn Bhd and opened for business in 1994.
The course consists of five par-4 holes, two par-3 holes and two par-5 holes. The longest hole on the course is the 485 yard third hole, which has a slight dogleg left of the tee and a large bunker in play down the left side of the fairway. The green is guarded by a pond, which stretches across the front of the whole green, so anything under hit will be severely punished.
Water is also present on the par-3 fifth hole, where the green is reached with a tee shot over the hazard and the par-5 seventh hole, where the fairway is split in two, by a large expanse of water.
Perhaps the most intriguing hole, is the par-4 sixth, which does not feature any hazards of note but has a turn mid-way down the fairway, of over 90 degrees. This gives players little choice but to play a lay-up style shot off the tee and then attack the green from that position.
In addition to the golf course, Permas Jaya Golf Club has a clubhouse, with a pro shop, cafeteria, bistro and pub. There is also a two tier driving range, putting practice green, pitching and chipping practice green and a practice bunker.
The golf course is always in good condition and the bulk of the holes are easy to medium difficulty. Permas Jaya Golf Club offers great value for money and is worth a visit if staying in the Johor Bahru region.
