Mountain Creek Golf Resort and Residence, located beyond Khao Yai National Park, is a unique 27-hole course and the only one in Thailand designed by legendary golfer Seve Ballesteros. The course is divided into three distinct nine-hole loops, each named to reflect its natural setting: Highlands, Creek, and Valley. While the Creek and Valley loops showcase challenging and dynamic play, the Highlands course offers a flatter terrain, providing a balanced experience across the course.
Golfers at Mountain Creek must balance power, accuracy, and focus to navigate the course successfully. Hazards are strategically placed throughout, tempting players into riskier shots from all angles. Dense jungle borders many fairways, making accuracy essential to avoid penalties. The course varies in length, from a short 330-yard par-4 to an impressive 550-yard par-5, ensuring that golfers will utilize every club in their bag. Around the greens, the layout remains unforgiving, with severe undulations that challenge even skilled putters. Misjudging a putt can easily lead to a three-putt scenario.

The resort features solid amenities, including practice facilities, a well-stocked pro shop, and comfortable locker rooms. The expansive clubhouse serves as the central hub, with all three loops beginning and ending here. A boutique resort, complete with additional sports and spa facilities, enhances the experience for visitors seeking a well-rounded retreat. Situated just 200 kilometers northeast of Bangkok, Mountain Creek Golf Resort and Residence is an excellent choice for golfers eager for a challenging and scenic day of golf in the Khao Yai region.

Magnificent layout in very poor condition

Reviewed by ; on
When I arrived, the clubhouse was completely empty, and I only encountered one other group on the course. The course itself was in reasonable condition, but the greens were a notable issue—many were heavily sanded, showing signs of disease and clearly in need of significant maintenance. The layout is very challenging, with thick rough that punishes off-line shots, streams crossing the fairways, and dramatic elevation changes. This is not a course suited for high handicappers, who may find it more frustrating than enjoyable.

Not up to scratch.

Sadly this is a case of what was once a magnificent course that has sadly not been kept up to acceptable condition. We were the only golfers of the day & it is clear that this course simply does not get the traffic to allow proper maintenance of the course. The layout was actually really good & when this course was new it must have been a magnificent course. Unfortunately the conditions around the holes was poor with much overgrown grass & evidence of neglect. The greens were simply not acceptable with sandy patches (not maintenance), blights & long grass....to the point where putting was not true on some lines & we were forced to lift our balls onto decent lies to allow putting. Unfortunately my recommendation would be to remove this course from the list of courses you use for the region as I fear many golfers would be very disappointed with their golf & this level of golf does not represent the expectation coming to the area.

Creek course is more challenging and unfortunately didn’t complete.

My right hand was stung by a bee at hole 7 Creek course. The caddie immediately applied some medicine to me and drove straight to the clubhouse to get help. I was in such pain I had no time to say thank to her. Well done caddie!. We played 1st 9 hole at Valley course and the other 2nd 9 hole at Creek course. Hopefully next time will come again to conquer this course.

Enjoying golf without stress

Reviewed by ; on
After struggling with crowds of golfers sometimes on many courses in Thailand, this course is for those who like it different. Nature and peace with the feeling of playing alone, in the six days of staying there I didn't see many players on the course as well at the hotel or restaurant. I don't know why, but I think the main reason is, that this course is really off-road, far away from any "civilization". It's a mountainous course with 27 holes and not easy. Not hitting the fairway means deep rough, high grass, many areas with big stones. The course was very dry and hart, especially the greens, so the ball sometimes meets the point, but jumping outside. There is a not "very" big island green with about 120 m, but very small. You must have a special very high "skyshot" or a impressive backspin, otherwise the ball will roll away on the very fast green. There is also a signature hole with more than 550 yards, all impressive down with a wonderful view, but there are 3 "water hazards crossing the fairways. You need a very well-placed first shot to have a chance to make some "point". Many holes are going hillside, a cart should be used anyway. I lost some balls and the result was the worst of about 30 rounds on different courses in Thailand, though it might be better on a second round of this tricky course. There was a group of young South Koreans playing a fantastic golf with drives of more than 340 yards and aiming pars and birdies on every hole, but they are professionals ("pros") and staying there for 2 month over the South Korean winter. Mostly they start the "action" with an early round from 6.00 a.m, so the rest of the day may be it's your turn. Unfortunately, the restaurant at the clubhouse is by far not the best, but it has a big terrace with a wonderful view. And, as already mentioned, very quiet.

A treacherous course that you can skip on your trip

Reviewed by ; on
The course design is strange and weirdly complex. Fairways are poorly maintained, no yardage or sign board at any of the tee boxes. The club house is very dated and tired, poor facilities, towels are smelly barely any water in the faucets and restroom. Restaurant menu and service is very poor. Only saw one other group of 4 golfers on a Sunday. Speaks volumes of how this course would probably do well to just down their shutters permanently.
