Phoenix Golf and Country Club is around 30 minutes outside Pattaya. The course was originally designed by Denis Griffiths in 1993 and the three course are spread over more than 1,000 rai and having been around for so long the course is blessed with may mature trees and colourful local plants.

In addition there are plenty of lakes, ponds and bunkers to ensure that the golf course has some protection

The Mountain Course offers golfers a wonderful view of one of the famous local landmark which is a huge image of a Buddha carved into a sheer cliff face with a laser.  The narrow undulating fairways and the fast greens will provide a stern test for all golfers.

The Lakes Course rewards golfers who can keep their drives on line so ensuring the best position for your layup to the greens.  The course is sprinkled with many beautiful ponds and small lakes and few strategically-placed trees and bunkers to challenge most golfers.

The Ocean Course is a favourite with local Pattaya golfers as many of the fairways are lined with mature trees but it is now undergoing a major renovation and to modernise the layout and it is expected to re-open in early 2016.

Great course, needs some improvements

It's a lovely course. Some of the greens were not in great shape however. I love how cheap a tray of balls are at the range. The locker room is EXQUISITE. I felt like tour pro in there. Fairways are excellent. Played twice in one week and both my caddies were great at locating my ball off errant shots so very good job on that. My first caddy however needed a bit more training. After I took a shot she would always just walk off to the cart and I had to ask her to take my club and clean it. She finally started doing it without request by about hole six which is about 20-25 swings of not taking my club after my shot. My second caddy was definitely better when it came to that. Always there to take my club after a shot and cleaned it. However, she didn't seem to know the greens very well. On the very first hole I had a 12-15 foot putt and she said it goes left. I always read greens with my feet and it was clearly breaking right. I asked her a second and third time, 'left?' She said yes, I said "no, it's right" she shrugged. I aimed it the way I read it and drained it, looked at her and said "see, it was right." After that she didn't give anymore green reads, lol. I'm always going to trust my own reads because I'm good at it but it's nice to have that confirmation from a caddy, not information that conflicts. But she was a good caddy. Service at the restaurant was just ok. I ordered a papaya salad and told the server about 10 times please no tomatoes. The reason I said so many times is because it seems to be a thing wherever I go that I when I say no tomatoes it still comes with tomatoes. I even told her how that always happens to me, so I jokingly just kept saying no tomatoes and she laughed and looked at me like I was a crazy person. Guess what....yes, it came with tomatoes. When I asked about how she could possibly forget she blamed the kitchen that it was their fault. But she still brought it out to me and there was clearly a pile of tomatoes on it, lol. So I had to wait an additional 10 minutes for them to remake it. And no offer to give a discount for the inconvenience or even an apology. I've worked in the service industry and when you screw up you do something to make up for it. At the very least APOLOGIZE instead of blaming it on someone else. I paid extra to add chicken to the salad and they were such small pieces and only like a handful. Wasn't pleased about that. The pina colada only filled 2/3 of the glass. The restaurant needs better management and better trained staff. The food and drinks are expensive so don't cheap out on filling the glass or giving a decent amount of chicken when I pay for it. ESPECIALLY since the order was screwed up. All that being said, would I play there again? Yes. Because I was staying in Pattaya and it's the closest course I could find to the city. About 30 min away whereas all others are at least an hour or so. It is well maintained (greens need work), a nice challenge with all the bunkers, not too much water and overall just very pretty. Better service at the restaurant is needed.

Outstanding Thai golf

Phoenix is one of my favourite courses in Pattaya because it offers value for money and combines this with 3 lovely playable 9 hole layouts and a really good cafe. With great Thai food. First class caddies too.

Absolutely stunning. Beautifully manicured.

Efficiently received caddy shack, proshop staff indifferent 😐 and an almost complete lack of of service in the restaurant! . Staff dismissive and disinterested Greens fabulous. Layout challenging , feel that it's important to have caddies that know the course/greens and most importantly fold etiquette (Where to stand, not talking on your backswing and when driving carts around to the green to be aware of golfers teeing off on the tbox.
