St. Andrews 2000 doesn’t quite emulate its namesake but this Desmond Muirhead design is a monster par 74 measuring 7,700 yards from the back tees which includes two huge par 6’s. This is not one for the hacker!

This course requires both power and accuracy to score well and even the lower handicappers will find it quite challenging with the cleverly placed water hazards, numerous fairways bunkers, elevated tees and greens and split level fairways.

Some would say the course is a bit “gimmicky”, especially the two 800 yards par 6’s but this is a remarkable course with some very special design touches. The 15th is a good example as you play from a 3-tiered tee box, with great views all around, towards an unusual split-level fairway and beware of the rocky outcrop on 18 which can send your ball in any direction if you are unfortunate enough to hit it.

You will probably need every club in your bag, even those long irons you hate, as you need to be very accurate to navigate the many hazards. Even if you don’t score as well as you would like this course will leave a lasting impression and plenty of anecdotes to share with your friends.

This course is very popular so it will be crowded at weekends and public holidays so you should expect some delays.

The two par 6's were great to experience. Challenging course that requires some thought to your shots. The greens were a little unkempt in places, but a course you should experience.

"An absolute MONSTER not to be missed"

Wow, just wow! The designer Desmond Muirfield has done everything right on this project. This is an absolute thrill to play. I just love the layout. Links style without the devastating wind. Almost every hole is a joy to the eye, it just sets up right. Long hitters will love this one as the fairways are pretty generous. But be carefull, you really have to plan well to get it right. The caddies in this venue know their course well. Use them wisely. The overall condition is a bit under par, but much better than Rayong green Valley (Share the same clubhouse) I found the speed of the greens to be very even and about a 12 on the stimpmeter. The course features two par six holes and they are both true monsters. Will come back many times for sure!

" This is one Pattaya course you should not miss"

We played St Andrews recently and it is an excellent course although you need to hit it straight as there are plenty of trees lining most fairways waiting to catch the wayward drive. We played from the white tees and we managed to course quite well. The course does get very crowded with Korean golf groups which can make play very slow. The clubhouse is in desperate need of renovation as it is very old and dingy.
