Saadiyat Beach Club was designed by one of the true greats and legends of the game Gary Player. It has to be one of the worlds most captivating golf projects, set on the ocean front, it is the first ocean front golf course in the Gulf and features several beach front holes as the course weaves it way in and out of numerous five star hotels.
A third of the golf course offers breath-taking views of the glistening, crystal clear waters of the Gulf, all framed by perfect white sand beaches.
The course designed and constructed under strict environmental guidelines, offers the golfer a different challenge and variety of holes.
During the design, projects were undertaken to restore the beach and sand dunes, along with the construction of salt water lagoons to create a unique aquatic environment.
Opened in 2010, the course provides a challenge for absolutely all levels of golfers with tees measuring from 5290 yards right up to 7806 yards for the championship tees.
The course makes the most of natural palm trees and native dune grasses to provide a habitat for a plethora of wildlife, which believe it or not include dolphins, gazelles and turtles to name just a few.
Each hole has its own character, but some of the stand out holes include the first.
A par 4, played over grassy dunes, to a well-protected fairway which is undulating to say the least. The green is not easy to navigate making a par on the first a tough ask.
The fifth is a stunning golf hole. Standing on the tee you can see out over the Gulf. The hole doglegs gently to the left but the narrow undulating fairway flanked by bunkers and a lagoon makes finding the fairway an absolute must. The approach to green on a peninsula is a spectacular and a memory that will linger for a long time.
The hardest hole on the course the 16th, will take you breath away as you stand on the tee and look down the fairway to the red sand bunker and lagoon. The second shot is played over the lagoon and a central bunker protecting the green. A hole fraught with danger.
The 17th is another eye watering hole, at just 147 yards from the championship tees the hole is an old fashioned target orientated par 3 with a bunker that runs the length of the hole.
The practice facilities are pristine and have been built and maintained to the same exacting standards of the golf course. The clubhouse facilities and service are second to none and the food is absolutely amazing, you have to eat here after your round.
