Jakarta, the capital city of Indonesia, is a great base for a golf holiday. Not only is it the easiest place to reach when travelling to Indonesia from outside the country but you have access to several top golf courses in the vicinity of the city.
If you opt to spend some time in Jakarta, which is one of the most fascinating cities in the world, you are within short travelling distance of some of the best golf courses in the country. Imperial Klub Golf is one such golf course and it takes just 25 minutes to reach this golf club.
The course at Imperial Klub Golf was designed by Desmond Muirhead and opened for play in 1997. An 18-hole golf course playing to 7,204 yards from the back tees, Imperial Klub Golf is regarded as not only one of the best golf courses in Indonesia but also one of the toughest.
Imperial Klub Golf has played host to some of the top tournaments in Indonesia, including the Jakarta Classic and this is a sign of the high quality you can expect. The golf course offers a good variety of holes and each aspect of your game will be tested from one to the next. Water comes into play on several of the holes and the fourth hole is a great example of this at Imperial Klub Golf.
The par-4 plays to 353 yards and while that seems short by modern golf standards, there is an island fairway to contend with off the tee. If you want to play the most direct route to the green, with the best angle of attack, you must land on the island fairway but if you want to play safe, there is a fairway which winds its way around the outside of the lake but this leaves a more challenging second shot.
Its decisions like this which make Imperial Klub Golf a top golf course. Having successfully negotiated the fourth hole, the drama does not end there and the fifth hole features an oval green, which is surrounded by a small patch of land and water. You will need to carry the ball 200 yards to land safely on the island green and holes four and five could easily make or break your round at Imperial Klub Golf.
However, despite offering a real test of golf, Imperial Klub Golf is a pleasure to play thanks to the quality of the fairways and greens plus the excellent layout of the course. The clubhouse may not be very modern but has locker rooms, driving range, practice greens, pro shop and a lovely restaurant serving local and international cuisine.
Imperial Klub Golf is without doubt one of the best golf courses in Jakarta and should be near the top of your list when visiting Indonesia for a golf holiday.
