Rifu Golf Club in Miyagi, Japan is located around 30 minutes’ drive from Sendai. It’s a beautifully presented course in immaculate condition. Most of the fairways are lined by trees so you need to be accurate and there are quite a few water hazards. Quite a few of the holes slope up or downhill with blind tee shots and doglegs.
On the front nine the par-3, 4th hole is one of the prettiest although it is rated one of the easiest holes on the course. You tee off from around 160 yards from the regular tees and carry over water to a green protected by bunkers on all sides This is closely followed by the most difficult hole on the course which is a downhill dogleg par-4 which is 360 yards from the regular tees with bunkers guarding the right hand side and OB on the left.
As you make your way up to the clubhouse on the ninth hole you need to avoid a slice at all costs as it slopes very sharply downhill from the right side of the fairway through the trees making a recovery very difficult
The 15th is very beautiful short hole – around 150 yards from the regular tees with a carry over a pond to a protected green
The 18th is a beautiful finishing hole but very attractive pond and waterfall on the right-hand side and if you reach the fairway then it’s a fairly straightforward approach uphill towards the clubhouse.
Very luxurious clubhouse with restaurant, pro-shop and Spa bath.
