Pineapple Valley Golf Club

Holes 18 | Par 72 | Length 6731 m / 7361 y | Type Parkland | Architect Pirapon Namatra

Pineapple Valley Golf Club Hua Hin is an outstanding golf courses which we voted onto our list of Best Golf Courses in Thailand.  The course was designed by a local architect he has made use of the natural surroundings and the pineapple plantations which surround the course often come into play.

There are six tee boxes to cater to all handicaps and as you would expect the course is dotted with some rather impressive and well-located water hazards and bunkers. Play well, and you may well reach the fast and true greens in regulation.

Great Opening hole on the Pineapple Valley Golf Club Hua Hin with great views over the course from the elevated tee boxes – need to select the right club and if you can find the fairway its only around 150 yards to the pin.  The 2nd is the first of the par 3’s and from the landing area the green looks quite small and you should try to stay below the pin.  It’s all downhill from the 3rd tee boxes and it will really tempt you to reach for your driver and open your shoulders.  The 4th is a daunting par 3 with a long carry over water to an elevated green and you will be more than happy to find any part of the large putting surface. The main challenge on the par 4, 5th is the approach over water from an uneven lie and on the 6th which is another par 4 you may have to flirt with a pond off the tee and then it’s uphill to the green but remember to take an extra club.  Although it may not look like it from the tee, the 7th is rated the most difficult but it’s not too bad if you can find the right position on the fairway.  Great view from the finishing hole on the front nine at Pineapple Valley Golf Club as you play back towards the clubhouse.

Tough start to the back nine and you need to take care with your tee shot as there is danger both sides of the fairway and then its uphill all the way to green and you will need at least one extra club. Very little chance of getting up in two on the par 5, 11th and the approach is particularly challenging as the green is surrounded by bunkers. Back-to-back par 5;s and the 12th is the longest on the course but with a favourable wind you can get on in two shots – the sharply sloping fairway adds to the challenge.  The 14th is a very pretty hole with a stream running along in front of the green and then it’s on to the signature hole - the par-3 15th with great ocean views from the tee box as you look down on the narrow green.  The 17th is another great slightly uphill par 3 with a huge green and if you can make the putting surface it offers a great scoring opportunity.  Wonderful finishing hole as you aim your drive at the clubhouse.

The buggies which are optional come with built-in GPS which takes the guess-work out of your choice of clubs.

Excellent practice facilities with a driving range as well as putting and chipping greens. The clubhouse, pro-shop and changing rooms are all first class and the restaurants offer the usual choice of Western and Thai dishes and the Mulligans Pub is an ideal spot to watch the sun go down as you discuss your round.  If you would like to stay overnight here then you can find more information here.

Must play

About 4 greens have had problems and have grass patch repairs and sand in may areas as of 1st Sept. Rest of greens perfect as with fairways. They have now removed all the high bull rush plants in all streams meaning you can often quickly find your ball rather than lose it or waste time looking. Big improvement.

Well maintained challenging course

Reviewed by ; on
Really enjoyed Pineapple Valley due to the good condition of the course, great caddies who were golf-knowledgeable and had good English and sense of humour. The course has maintained much of the surrounding jungle and incorporated the holes really well into the hillsides. Great F&B offerings across the course. Recommend to play early as the course gets hot. Like most of the HH courses we played, the greens were slow and grainy. Definitely in the top 3 courses out of the 10 we have played in Thailand so far.

Very good conditioned course. Greens a bit bare in some places

Very good conditioned course. Greens a bit bare in some places, but clearly some recent maintenance. Fairways beautiful. Tee boxes perfect condition. Played blue tees and was quite tough as fairways a bit wet from recent rain.

My favorite in Hua Hin

Reviewed by ; on
In my opinion, the best of the 4 courses I know in Hua Hin. Good layout, with some good holes and in good conditions. Greens ok but not perfect. The staff was very helpful and competent despite the language barrier. I walked the course in just 3 hours, so the pace of play was excellent but I teed up early. The only little thing I didn’t like was the absence of air con (just big fans) in the lockers ; first world problems though !
