Palm Hills Golf Club

Holes 18 | Par 72 | Length 6302 m / 6892 y | Type Parkland | Architect Mr. Wax Wexler

One of the first international standard courses in Hua Hin, Palm Hills Golf Club remains a firm favourite and although a bit short it’s an excellent layout with fast greens which are tricky to read.  Good clubhouse with excellent bar and restaurant.

Hua Hin suffers from a water shortage and Palm Hills Golf Club seems to be affected more than most but in normal conditions the generous fairways are lush and flat but the well positioned water hazards make things a little more challenging.

Some say the course has a links feel to it but the tropical plants and trees which surround the course rather dispel that notion.  The back nine which is more undulating offers good views over the Gulf of Thailand.

Fairly gentle start with a downhill dogleg par 4 with large bunker blocking the tiger line but if you play to the left of the fairway you have a good line into the green which has bunkers either side.  The 2nd is the first of the par 5’s and is an intimidating tee shot with water both sides of the fairway and narrow approach to the greens with bunkers either side and behind the green.  The 3rd is a short par 3 which is pretty easy if you can avoid the large bunker protecting the right side of the green. The 4th is a short dogleg par 4 with a narrow landing area between the large fairway bunker and the trees on the left of the fairway.  The 5th is a short but tough par 4 with water along the left and a tricky approach with water a bunker and a ditch protecting the left side of the green.  The 8th is an interesting par 3 which plays slightly uphill across a water hazard and then it’s on to the 9th, the most difficult hole on the course with a tree blocking the left side of the fairway and a narrow green sloping quite sharply from right to left.

The back nine at Palm Hills Golf Club starts with some of the best holes on the course and includes the 11th, a long uphill par-3 and the prevailing wind can often make club selection difficult.  The 12th is a challenging dogleg par 5 with water on the right off the tee and a very narrow landing area for your 2nd.  The 14th is a testing par-4 dogleg with water down the left and across the fairway and if you try to play safe the bunkers are positioned to trap you.  Maybe an iron off the tee is advisable.  A bit of respite on the par 3 15th which is pretty straightforward and the par 5 16th is a scoring opportunity if you can keep to the left of the fairway and avoid the trees which can block your approach.

A really nice resort course which is still in excellent condition and well worth playing on any golf holiday in Hua Hin and the green fees here are a bit cheaper than some of its more illustrious neighbours.

Slow play. Good course. God caddies.

When you are in Thailand and get stuck behind a group of Koreans, then consider to rebook your tee time for a couple of hours later. You will finish about the same time. This year, it happened 3 times to us and every time, the round was 5-5,5 hours. Free holes in front and they simply will not let you through. Maybe it is the way it is in Thailand.

My second year in a row playing Palm Hills and the course met and exceeded my expectations.

Reviewed by ; on
Well manicured and green considering it’s the dry season. The sand in the bunkers is good quality and unfortunately I tried them out a few times. The greens were fast and tricky but thanks to my excellent caddy I putted fairly well. The layout is a little open but still scenic with beautiful homes on many of the holes. A little out of the way, I booked a private taxi 700 baht return trip. Grab or bolt might be less expensive but getting one to come back and get you may be a problem. I will definitely recommend this course and I will be returning in 2026

Golf is great but avoid ordering and eating the sandwiches !

Reviewed by ; on
Had a club sandwich before the game and two of my friends a basic ham and cheese. After a long wait they arrived and we ate them and were happy ! After about 9 holes things were starting to feel less good. Immediately after 18 holes I spent the coming 24 hours at "hong nam". Really poor for such a nice course. My two other friends managed with upset stomachs, and the fourth person not eating there was perfectly fine.

Probably the best value for money around Hua Hin

If I was only going to play one course regularly it would be between Palm Hills and Majestic Creek. Course was again in super condition. Pace of play was excellent and my caddie was on top of her job even though she was relatively new. Facilities are excellent.
