Black Mountain Golf Club

Holes 27 | Par 72 | Length 6903 m / 7549 y | Type Parkland | Architect Notlöv & Edfors

Black Mountain Golf Club features 27-holes of breathtaking, championship-standard golf and regularly ranks as one of the top 100 courses in the world. The host of multiple Asian PGA events, the course is set amidst stunning mountains, natural creeks and contours carved by nature; it’s a beautiful area for a really challenging game of golf.

While Black Mountain Golf Club was designed to test professional players in mind, five tee boxes mean the challenge can be tailored to players of all abilities. The impeccably-maintained Seashore Paspalum fairways are actually more generous for the shorter drive, tending to narrow further down where Tiger would be landing his ball.

When it comes to the blind holes and severe dog-legs however, you might find yourself paying for an overly conservative approach off the tee. The greens are comfortably large but generally well protected by water and superbly sculpted bunkers.

All three nines (the original East and North Courses were supplemented by a third nine, the West Course, in 2016) feature some truly memorable holes. At the par-5 2nd on the East Course, water threatens three times, with a drive over a waterway, a lake intruding into the fairway, and another water carry on approach into a green guarded by two massive sand traps.

Black Mountain Golf Club

A nice course, not too far from Hua Hin

I had a very enjoyable experience while playing the famous Black Mountain CC. The course was is very good condition, and another 9 (there are 27 holes there) is undergoing some renovation. It is quite scenic, with a fair bit of elevation but still very walkable (having a caddy helps in that heat !) The staff was helpful, the caddies knowledgeable and very helpful. The pace of play was excellent (we teed off early though) and the caddies made sure we played through a slower 4 balls in a nice and efficient way. I rented some clubs (1500 Bahts) and they were excellent stuff (Callaway Paradym). Overall, a very enjoyable day and experience.

Was concerned about condition but was still great

After reading some reviews I was apprehensive about playing, I was pleasantly surprised to find some clearly marked gur patches caused by the drought. The course on the tees and greens was immaculate. The bunkers while you should avoid were also good. The backdrop is spectacular, the course is very undulating. Easily the top two with Pineapple Valley.

Currently not worth playing

The course is under renovation with no carts on fairways, and significant areas of GUR and it was not a pleasant day of golf. Staff were incompetent at check in - unable to understand that we wanted to pay for carts as not included - them saying that it was included - by the time we got to hole 3 the caddies were being called every 2 minutes- saying we hadn’t paid. Not a course I would recommend playing under the current state of presentation.
