Located in amongst a very beautiful tropical jungle setting, the Impian Golf Club in Kuala Lumpur is a championship golf course often recognized as being one of the better golf courses in the area. It's reasonably accessible and takes around 40 minutes from the city.
Let's take you through some of the more interesting holes on this course.
A gentle start to your round as there is not too much trouble off the tee and the landing area is quite generous but take care to avoid the fairway bunkers along the left as you need to get into a good position for your approach to the rather small green. You need a solid hit to carry the bunkers fronting the green on the 180 meters par-3, 2 nd hole but the 3 rd hole offers a chance to recover as it's possible to get up in two on this relatively short par-5. The par-4, 4 th hole is rated the most difficult and they have made it even more difficult by moving the tee boxes back. Your tee shot needs to plac3ed le3ft along the side of the fairway to offer the best angle into the green and to avoid the fairway bunker along the right. The 5 th is a long zigzag-shaped par-5 with a green protected by water in front and bunkers either side. The short par-4, 6 th hole is one of the shorter hole and offers an excellent scoring opportunity. You need to pick the right club to avoid the greenside bunkers on the short par-3 7 th hole. The downhill par-4, 8 th will allow handicappers to get even higher-up in two as long as you avoid the water off the tee. Tough hole to finish the front nine as water runs all along the left from tee to green.
The opening hole on the inward nine has been lengthened slightly downhill tee shot but the helps and the main issue comes from the small elevated green. You need to keep to the left side of the fairway for the best approach to the green protected by three bunkers. Then it's on to the very pretty signature hole which requires a water carry to reach the green - although shorter hitters can chose to bail out right of the green and avoid the water. The par-4, 13 th is more difficult than it looks due to the uneven fairway which makes the approach that much more difficult. You need three good blows to reach the green on the par-5 14 th and this is followed by a longer hole with a challenging approach to a plateau green. The 17 th offers a chance to recover some shots but in order to do so you need to avoid the fairway bunkers off the tee and the pond along the righty with your second. Great finishing hole as you play to a well-protected and heavily contoured green which will test your putting skills. The course has a pro-shop, practice green and several restaurants as well as a whole host of other recreational facilities.
