Kuala Lumpur Golf & CC West Course is the longer and more difficult of two private golf courses at the club, which is situated in the heart of Kuala Lumpur's enormous city center. The golf course which was designed by Robin Nelson is nearly 7,000 yards from the back tees and winds its way through abandoned rock quarries in the Bukit Kiara foothills.
The Malaysian Open, the inaugural co-sanctioned event between the European and Asian Tours in 1999, was held at the TPC Kuala Lumpur. Korea's Charlie Wi earned his maiden European Tour victory at the same tournament in 2006, becoming just the second Korean to win on the European Tour after KJ Choi.
Kuala Lumpur Golf & CC has often been the venue for the Malaysian Open and has continuyed to be a regular venue for porofessional evenst on both the USPGA and LPGA Tours, including the Maybank Open and Sime Darby Classic.
The West Course at Kuala Lumpur Golf & CC has just been completely redesigned. The West Course was designed by Nelson & Haworth and debuted for play in 1991, although Parslow and Associates completely renovated the layout over the course of eighteen months. In October 2008, the redesigned West Course reopened. The third renovation was finished in 2018.
TPC Kuala Lumpur's West Course is created for the real shot-maker with inventiveness and unwavering attention to detail, with breathtaking vistas of the hole and surrounding landscape, multiple shot alternatives into the greens, and ideal playing conditions.
Water currently plays a role on thirteen of the holes. This Kuala Lumpur course remains pristine, providing good challenges to both visiting pros and amateur Kuala Lumpur golfers.
