Krung Kavee Golf Course and Country Club is located just 40 minutes away from the centre of Bangkok, making it a convenient place to play golf for those staying in the Thai capital.

Suvarnabhumi Airport, more commonly known as Bangkok Airport is one of the best in the world.  It has direct connections with much of the globe including European and other Asian cities.  It is also just one connection away from the United States, making Bangkok a great place for a Thailand golf holiday.

You are spoilt for choice when it comes to golf courses in the Bangkok area and Krung Kavee is highly regarded by visitors and locals alike.

Although many golfers will focus purely on the playing side of things, Krung Kavee is known in Thailand for its environmentally friendly approach to golf.  It is the only golf course in Thailand that utilizes biodynamic agriculture as a means of maintenance.  Basically, that means Krung Kavee is not using harmful chemicals and toxins in the upkeep of the golf course but instead opting for biodynamics and the results are excellent.

Designed by Japanese golf course architect, Manabu Sakamoto, Krung Kavee keeps in tune with many of his other designs around the world by playing to a long 7,082 yards.  Sakamoto is renowned for designing long golf courses and Krung Kavee does not disappoint in that regard.

Water features heavily at Krung Kavee and there is only two of the 18 holes where water does not come into play.  As soon as you step onto the first tee, you are met with water on both the right and left side of the fairway.  There is also bunkering to contend with on the right side of the fairway and the green is protected by a bunker to the front-left.

If you were wondering what you would be facing during a round at Krung Kavee before you started, the first hole will leave you in little doubt.  Water is included on each of the following nine holes and it is not until the par-3 10th where you will find the drink is not an issue.

Talking of par-3’s, there is a superb island hole which comes quite early into the round at Krung Kavee.  The 9th hole plays to 190 yards off the back tee but as with all the holes at Krung Kavee, you have a choice of four different tee positions.  Despite being an island hole, the green on the 9th is large enough for most players to comfortably land their ball on the putting surface.

Thanks to a quality sub-surface drainage system, Krung Kavee can withstand heavy rain and remain open for play during the Bangkok rainy season.  Complete with well-kept locker rooms and the Rangsit Kitchen, which offers a range of Thai, Japanese and International cuisine, Krung Kavee is a great place for a round of golf near Bangkok and has the added benefit of being environmentally friendly.

Krung Kavee Golf Course

Can't believe I was recommended for this course.

Reviewed by ; on
One of the worse maintained courses I have on. Greens were spotted, uneven, and not pruned. The fringe of green was not cleaned at all having shrub like weed growing. Facilities were outdated and downright need to be upkept. Fairways were very poorly managed, if managed. Carts were dated. Clubhouse was the only place they paid attention to. Caddy were trying to be helpful but was more off than on with recommendations of the course. I will never play here again and whoever said they stand by this course recommendation when they arranged for me should be embarrassed. Sorry for venting. Was very disappointed in this arrangement.

Krung Kavee Golf Course

Enjoyable game on a not too challenging course for high handicap players.

The course was well maintained although the greens were very inconsistent. The caddies were helpful but a bit too keen to get the game completed which wasn't necessary as the course was very quiet. It would have been good to have a driving range for a warm-up. The practice putting green was very poor, long grass which was no use in trying to get a feel for the greens.

A very pleasant golfing experience.

The course is fairly flat but there was good use of water and terrain to increase complexity. The fairways and greens were in good condition and the bunker placement added a little challenge every few holes.
