Royal Gems Golf and Sports Club is a top quality and exclusive Bangkok golf course that is not to be missed. It is one of very few golf courses in Thailand officially accepted as a member of the United States Golf Association, an honour bestowed on only those courses that meet championship standard in terms of both layout and facilities, Royal Gems Golf & Sports Club is a must-play.
It’s a very mature course with lots of large trees and shrubs and as you can imagine, you won't get an easy ride - tight fairways, long rough, deep bunkers and water must all be negotiated before you make it to the insanely fast greens, all adding up to a wonderful challenge worthy of any golfer in the world. While the par-5s are tough enough, it is the par-3s give you no option but to play your best golf, with forced water carries on 3 out of 4 of them. It's a course that lives up to its name because it really is a gem, and a relatively hidden one at that given that not many people know about it and the fact that it is not easy to get tee times, which are only available through a handful of authorised agents. Lucky for you, we are one of them, so take advantage of the opportunity to play one of the best golf courses in Asia.
You are immediately faced with a long par 5 but it is one of the easier holes on the course so a fairly gentle start providing you can avoid the water hazard running along the left side of the fairway. The second is a tough par 4 with water along the left bordered by a beach bunker and the third a challenging par 3 with water protecting two sides of the green. The sixth is another difficult par 4 and you have to negotiate the water twice as you try to reach the well-protected green. The seventh is a long par 3 with a daunting water carry and the final hole on the front nine is a dogleg left par 4 and you need to avoid the fairway bunkers protecting both sides to have a chance of reaching the heavily bunkered green.
Four easier holes to start the back nine but don’t over club on your approach to the 10th green with water over the back and protecting both sides. Things tighten up on the 14th with a water carry off the tee and again into the green. The 16th is the most difficult hole on the back nine mainly due to its length which makes it tough to reach in regulation for most golfers. The 17th is the last par 3 with water all along the right and many bunkers around the green. Great finishing hole with a very narrow landing area for your second and then an island green with bunkers both sides.
