Situated within driving distance of the Thai capital Bangkok you will encounter the Northern Rangsit Golf Club.
Built within the local natural environment the course enhances the already wonderful landscape.
Measuring 6793 yards, the course is a mid-length par-72 which will keep golfers on their toes throughout the 18 holes.
A key feature of the golf course is the abundance of water hazards, which come into play on every hole, demanding the golfer to be accurate and to think their way around the many obstacles.
An aesthetically pleasing design that will capture the imagination of the golfer, Northern Rangsit is definitely a course worth visiting.
Each hole presents a different challenge, and some can be played in multiple ways depending on the aggressiveness of the golfer, but anything to aggressive or off-line will be severely punished.
From the backs, the par 5s are almost all three-shot par 5s, except for the really long golfer who could take on a couple.
Each par 5, requires a lot of thought and good lay-up shots to leave chances of pars and the occasional birdie, as they are generally a little less demanding than some of the other holes.
One of the stand-out holes, and a real test of skill is the 9th, a possible card-wrecker. At 402 yards from the back tees it is imperative that you find the fairway to give yourself any chance of making a par. But the danger doesn´t end after the tee shot, the approach to the long, narrow green is a true test of your ability. Miss right and you will be lucky to stay dry, miss left and the best-case scenario is finding the bunkers that lie between green and water.
The par threes are all of medium length and the standout par three is the 7th, at 164 yards accuracy and good club selection is the key to finding this green surrounding on three sides by water, but the 11th also comes close, shorter, yet just as much danger. The enormous wishbone bunker protects the front of the green and water surrounds the rest, making club selection and accuracy clear.
But, you have to wait until the 18th to find the real gem of the Northern Rangsit Golf Club. It is a short par 4, but you have to get your game face on. Your layup position is vital to give you the best chance at finding this small circular island green.
The modern clubhouse, houses a locker room overlooking traditional Japanese gardens, whilst the well-stocked pro shop offers the normal range of golf products. Traditional Thai food is served in the restaurant, with a traditional ambience and luxury feel.
Practice facilities are great with a driving range, practice chipping and putting greens.
