Designed by O-Art Architects Ltd and opened in late 1996, Uniland Golf and Country Club, is located in the Nakhon Pathom region of Bangkok, Thailand. This region has plenty to offer visitors in terms of sightseeing, including Sanam Chandra Palace, Buddha Monthon and the Lamphaya Float Market but one of the main attractions, is the golf course. Uniland Golf and Country Club is a 27-hole golf course, which has been split in to three different nine hole courses.
At the time of writing, the three courses have not been given a name and are known as Course A, Course B and Course C. That doesn’t mean they are not different because each set of nine holes, does offer a different challenge.
Course A features many trees, of various sizes and the fairways are very well kept, with water hazards a feature. Perhaps the pick of the holes is the par-4, seventh hole, which is 336 yards long and involves a 180 yard carry over a lake and a blind shot to the green. Yes, the flag will be visible but the green will be out of sight, making this hole a real test.
There is even more water present on Course B and plenty of doglegs, both right and left to contend with. The eighth hole is a par-5, 641-yard monster and easily one of, if not the longest hole in Thailand. This is considered the signature hole at Uniland Golf and Country Club.
Finally, Course C, offers slightly more mountainous terrain, with trees and bunkers also present throughout the course. The greens are undulating and approach shots need to be precise, otherwise the ball could easily be rolling off, forcing the putter to stay in the bag. Hole three is possibly the toughest on Course C and is a par-4, with water and bunkers on each side of the fairway, plus a raised green to contend with.
Uniland Golf and Country Club has a great setting, with lush vegetation, trees and streams throughout the course. The greens are very quick and this is the major selling point of the golf club, where in their own words, the green speed is as smooth as glass.
There is a large and nicely designed club house and modern locker room, which can accommodate over 400 people but booking is still recommended for this course.
Located within a 45-minute drive from Bangkok, Uniland Golf and Country Club is a great place to escape the city and enjoy a great round of golf. With 27 holes, it’s easy to spend a whole day at the golf course and settle back in the club house afterwards, before heading back to Bangkok. It’s also possible to stay at the resort too, making Uniland Golf and Country Club a very good choice.
