Pinehurst Golf and Country Club was once one of the best golf courses in Bangkok but is not up to the standard of some of the newer courses. The night golf is very popular and at weekends the course is very crowded. Greens tend to be a bit unpredictable and on the slow side and the caddies are not as attentive as some of the other golf courses in Thailand.
Pinehurst Golf Club is very conveniently located and withing easy reach of Don Muang airport and about 45 minutes drive from the centre of the city and it remains very popular with Bangkok resident golfers but the course and the facilities are looking a bit tired and could use some modernisation and renovation..
There are three different nines: The North course which is also known as the Lakes course is reminiscent of many of the iconic American courses and as its name would suggest you will encounter plenty of water and as soon as the 2nd hole which is a short par-3 you are faced with a tee shot across water to a tiny green. There is water bordering the left side of the 3rd fairway and you have to deal with another tee shot across the water on the 4th hole before a slight respite on the following holes before still more water hazards come into play as you complete the front nine.
The Forest or West course is the most difficult of the courses with some unusual design features including a raised tee box resembling a driving range bay on the 8th which also features one of the biggest greens in Bangkok. Plenty of water hazards on the course as well - especially off the tee.
The Greenfield nine or South Course is also the easiest of the three courses at Pinehurst Golf Club with flat fairways and hardly any water except one one or two holes.
The course is one of the cheaper courses and is very popular so sometimes shows some weasr and tear but the greens tend to be very slow.
You can also play night golf at Pinehurst Golf Club and if you want to show off then you can always rent one of the Rolls Royce branded VIP golf carts.
Pinehurst Golf Club has a huge clubhouse with excellent views across the golf course and the Japanese and Korean food is especially tasty.
